Discount Panasonic SDR-S7 Flash Memory Camcorder with 10x Optical Zoom (Black)

I've owned this camera for a few months and the video quality is not as great as digital-8 or mini-dv. To be fair I tried all 3 rec modes and even in the best day-lit scenes the mpeg-2 engine can't handle a straight line border with 2 different colors (the edge of a table against a different color floor).

I don't understand why Panasonic couldn't engineer the camera to fit a slightly thicker battery to accomodate 2 hour recording, or at least a full hour (there's certainly room inside the body of the video camera). As it is I only get 40-45 min on a battery. So buy a couple of extra batteries (good news at least the batteries are inexpensive). The short recording time on a fully charged battery I've observed is consistent with all previous reviews.

So why buy this video camera - easy easy easy simple menu to navigate for set up, small and light - this is the video camera you would bring to an amusement park and you could have in your hand on a roller coaster or tape the kids at the park, being active anywhere out and about. This is what you wish you had in your hand while using a digital still camera and wanted to record better video.

This is NOT the video camera for special events like weddings where things like gradual shading and very fine detail is important - I would stick with mini-dv or an HDD video camera or step up to HD if using flash memory SD, MS, CF etc.

I use a Windows based PC and first I just copy the contents of the card to my hard drive, simply rename the recorded files from .MOD to .MPG and any off-the-shelf media editing software that records to DVD will work: Nero, Roxio, even Windows Movie Maker.

Buy Kodak Zx1 HD Pocket Video Camera in Black + 8GB Kit

Some of the advantages are:
Small, Light weight, easy to use. Great Price concitering the memory card, batteries and charger (which is much better than the Kodak provided one).
The negitives are:
You can't take still pictures in low light, They blur badley. Screen is hard to see in bright sunlight. No way to determine how much storage is left (At least I have'nt found a way). The setup menu is very limiting an d only contains the basics.

Still a good buy.Get more detail about Kodak Zx1 HD Pocket Video Camera in Black + 8GB Kit.

Purchase Oregon Scientific ATC 5K Waterproof Action Cam Flash Memory Video Recorder with 1.5-Inch Color LCD Screen, Still Image and Web Cam Capabilities (Blue)

>> Friday, November 27, 2009

I received this as a gift and, after a few uses, I will be returning it. Lets see, where to start? The negative reviews above are correct in pointing out mounting problems, but it depends on how you use it. I wanted to use this cam to make videos of me riding my bike - both on the trail and ripping through the streets where I live. Because of the design - a relatively heavy camera sitting atop a pretty small mount results in a lot of bouncing and shaking. Watching the video made me more nauseous than watching the Blair Witch Project. There are a lot of mounting options, but none seem to fix this problem.

Further, image quality is lousy for the money spent on this camera. There are a lot of pixilated black spots that appear where bright spots are filmed - such as the sky or snow.

When I plug the camera into the computer to save my videos, there is no sound.

Lastly, when I plugged the camera into the television to watch my ride to the library, the RCA jack broke off and fell inside the camera. Here is another way to put it: by plugging the cord in (like a headphone jack), I pushed the internal part into the camera.

I had a lot of great expectations when I received this as a gift, but after a few uses, I am not happy with this product and I expect a full refund from Oregon Scientific.Get more detail about Oregon Scientific ATC 5K Waterproof Action Cam Flash Memory Video Recorder with 1.5-Inch Color LCD Screen, Still Image and Web Cam Capabilities (Blue).

Where To Buy Samsung SC-HMX10 8GB Flash Memory High Definition Camcorder with 10x Optical Zoom (SDHC compatible)

>> Thursday, November 26, 2009

This is a great little camcorder for family-type stuff. I was torn between getting a standard-definition camcorder or biting the bullet and go hi-def..I'm so glad I went hi-def. The picture difference is stunning, and the 720p resolution is more than adequate for large screen tv's, although I am mostly watching on my PC. You will need a fairly newer computer and a newer video card or you will get a lot of stuttering and slow-motion video during playback. One drawback is the photos taken with this cam are barely OK. It is not a replacement for even a cheap camera.

For the price this is just a great toy for recording family activities and events. I didn't want to spend more than $300, and I am very satisfied with the quality of this camera

Pros:
* 720P 60FPS resolution: videos look great and are smaller and easier to work with than 1080P resolution, you can store more files on the built-in card, takes up less hard drive or DVD space when you offload the files.
* very easy to operate
* competitive price

Cons:
* poor photos
* need a newer computer to view the footage smoothly
* indoor or low-light is grainy, but this is true for all consumer-level camcorders. Just turn on more lights if you can. Outdoor recording is fantastic.
* have to use genuine Samsung batteries, 3rd-party batteries will not work. Current price $50.00
* cannot charge battery outside of camera, makes it hard to keep spares charged up.

Canon VIXIA HF100 Flash Memory High Definition Camcorder with 12x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom

>> Wednesday, November 25, 2009

I purchased this camera over a year ago for a trip to Jamaica. I also purchased a 16GB flash memory card to go with. This camera replaced a vhs-c compact recorder that I've had for years and finally went due to battery issues. I am an average user mainly taping my children and family significant events. For this purpose the camera is excellent, there are no tapes, dvds, cd's (did I say tapes?) that you need to purchase once you have initially bought flash memory. During our week in Jamaica the 16 GB card held everything I taped. I recorded at the highest quality setting for the duration. Also of note, I only had to charge the battery once during our vacation as well. So the negative comments on the battery I initially encountered during my research do not really apply to me (1 hour is plenty!). This camera has plenty of recording space and plenty of battery power for the average user. I agree with others though with respect to the low light quality, it is on par with my old vhs-c, no worse no better.

Nice compact design, again partly attributable to the flash memory storage.

I still need to locate some good software for editing, but honestly haven't done much with this. When clips are played back on my plasma, they are absolutely stunning, the audio quality has issues, but again I think this is a software and not a hardware issue. The camera is extremely easy to use and takes decent photo's as well. I have very few negative things to say about this purchase. Highly recommend it to those of you looking to eliminate the "middle man" with respect to recording media, and/or are looking to upgrade to HD in the camcorder relm.Get more detail about Canon VIXIA HF100 Flash Memory High Definition Camcorder with 12x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom.

Panasonic HDC-SD9 AVCHD 3CCD Flash Memory High Definition Camcorder with 10x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom Review

Let me just say that I love this camera. Excited as I was to be getting my first 3-chip videocam, thereby putting me in the ranks of more professional standards, I have to admit I was a little worried when I opened up the package and saw how small this thing really is. But they've packed quite a package into this little frame. You don't realize it, but with a history of using regular videocams, you get used to your files just sort of making an approximation of the color of something. With the final vids from this, I was amazed to finally have video that captures the actual complex colors of things exactly as they are in front of you. And the video quality is pristine, beautiful.

If you do a lot of video editing (I use Sony Vegas) on a PC, please bear in mind that the included software is virtually useless if you would like to keep the quality standard to what this cam is capable of. As of now, the only programs I know of capable of converting the AVCHD files to something that feeds into most these programs (WMV, for instance) are 1)AVS Video Converter and 2)VoltaicHD. Both of these programs cost a small bit of money, but it is worth it, so just keep that in mind. I think the vid quality of AVS is ever-so-slightly better than the Voltaic. From what I hear, for Mac users, the latest QT update will just make your programs read the stuff.

I have put this cam up against a much bigger, more high-end, over the shoulder, professional-level 3-chip cam, and I definitely liked the video that came from this better. Granted, the uber-professional thing might have more options and intricacies, like external mic hookup and a few custom tailored options, but just on base vid quality alone... well, this thing impressed.

Yes, it does better in better light. But any videographer knows that setting up good lighting in the first place is an integral part of any videographer's job.

As far as the complaints about not having a mic input... the mics on the unit sound really great, and for getting closer in/booming in something, it is easy enough just to buy a Zoom H2 or something of the like, and just having an additional audio source. No problem!

I have a 8 gig card, and that gets a little over an hour recording time. What a relief not to have to transfer any DV or tape info, at this quality-level. And if you are using the beforementioned file conversion programs, the whole battery pack issue people are mentioning on here is nill. You just pop open the SD card and read it.

I hope this review helps. I love this cam for the money, which was much less than many other comparable units.Get more detail about Panasonic HDC-SD9 AVCHD 3CCD Flash Memory High Definition Camcorder with 10x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom.

Vivitar DVR865HD 8.1MP Camcorder with 8x Digital Zoom (Black) Get it now!

I purchased this video camera for a trip to Florida,I am pretty much pleased with it so far. At first I was disappointed with the amount of internal memory it has but after purchasing an 8gig SD card I was able to use it.
The camera is very sensitive so you have to have a steady hand when taking pictures with it. As to the video recorder it works great and the zoom is fantastic, the only draw back with the video recorder is that the playback sound is very low.
I would recommend this camera to a friend, like I said for the price it's well worth the money.Get more detail about Vivitar DVR865HD 8.1MP Camcorder with 8x Digital Zoom (Black).

Samsung SC-MX10 Flash Memory Camcorder with 34x Optical Zoom (Silver) Buy Now

>> Saturday, November 21, 2009

I don't have a lot of complaint with the physical aspects of the camera (the size is nice, the controls work well) or with the mid-range quality of the picture (it's a cheap camera so I wasn't expecting crystal-clear video all the time). However, the power issues are really disappointing. The especially frustrating part is, I've used it so little, by the time I discovered the severity of the issue, I'm completely out of the warranty period. The first signs of trouble were a blinking charge light instead of solid. The camcorder wouldn't turn on at all after that. I got a replacement battery from ebay and the blinking disappeared and it seemed to be charging properly. A quick test seemed to verify it was working. However, I went to shoot some video and within 10 minutes of recorded time, the camera was dead as a doornail. Clearly to me, the camcorder is defective, but I've been unable to get any help with it since I'm outside of the warranty period. If anyone has a possible solution, let me know. With the widespread power failures of these models, however, I can't recommend any Samsung product from this line.Get more detail about Samsung SC-MX10 Flash Memory Camcorder with 34x Optical Zoom (Silver).

Canon FS10 Flash Memory Camcorder with 8GB Internal Flash Memory and 48x Advanced Zoom Order Now

I did lots of research, and am happy I chose this one. I got this for my wife for Christmas08, so we have lots of experience with it now to review. I also realize there are newer options on the market now to consider before you make your purchase. If your expectations are for perfection in video, then buy something costing three to five times more. For my needs and expectations as a sophisticated hobbyist, the FS10/FS11/FS100 is exactly perfect price vs performance ratio.

If you are going digital, why would you buy a camera with a hard drive (HDD) or a mini-DVD burner on board? A HUGE point of failure and battery suck. In my opinion, with the low-cost SDHC (SD HighCapacity), this solid-state camera technology is the ONLY way to go. Before you buy HDD/Mini-DV, see what steps and time you have to go through to get video on your computer, edit it, and burn a DVD. Makes some other reviewer complaints on this camera pale.

FS10 FS11 and the FS100 are identical except they have different amounts of memory. To me the FS10 is the sweetspot. Enough onboard memory to be functional, then copy over to the SDHC for redundancy (corruption happens) and to quickly pop into a cardreader on my computer. OR use multiple SDHC's for high capacity or redundancy til you download to your computer or make your DVD. Show me someone who is committed to ALWAYS having data in two places, and I will show you someone who has felt the pain of lost data (damaged/corrupted SDHC/hard-drive-crash, motherboard failure, etc).

My wife and I do not have an HD TV to view High Def on, and the files are HUGE. I will start looking at HD in another 5 years. No Hurry. I've got a great looking Panasonic TV that has lots more years in it. So, for what we want this Canon FS10 is ideal.

My wife likes her camera, so it was a great gift. I have used it too, and I really like it. The coup de gras was at my brother-in-law's retirement-party and wedding where I shot lots of footage. I burned a bunch of DVD's for folks to take home with them, from the raw footage on the camera straight to the DW-100 stand alone burner. The footage looked GREAT when we viewed it on TV and a standard DVD player. Received lots of unsolicited positive compliments about the appearance of the recordings. Said it looked semi-professional.

NOTE: I was using the highest-quality setting, NOT the default setting it comes out of the box with. The highest quality setting makes a little larger file, which consumes your memory a little faster, but the result IS WORTH IT, if you are shooting archival footage. For just average video or to throw something up on Youtube, the lowest quality smallest-filesize setting will work fine. You probably don't even need the middle quality setting.

MUCH of our wedding recording was shot in pretty low light (think the inside of a dimly lit church). I can only assume that the persons posting problems shooting in low light either 1)have different settings on their camera (I am using the EASY BUTTON!) or 2) The got a lemon of a camera, or 3) they have unreasonable expectations of how low light that they can/should shoot video under.

I saw that the image on the flip-out screen while I was recording, did look grainy, and showed a lot of shake while I was recording. BUT the processed image did not show as much grain in low light, or as much shake, when replayed on the big screen tv. It even kept the wide-screen format of the camera recording when viewing on tv, as black bars were present above and below the image on the tv screen.

Connection to my wife's Mac is simple, as long as you have iMovie 08 or newer (09). See more here: [...] The only reason to put it in iMovie is to edit. If you don't need to edit in or edit out portions within scenes or sounds, or don't want to make the time or hassle to edit, just burn straight to DW-100 stand alone burner. Haven't tried downloading videos directly to my pc laptop.

My only complaint about the DW-100 stand alone burner is that it is MUCH larger than I expected, and I believe MUCH larger than it needed to be. The camera is so tiny, I expected the DW-100 stand alone burner to be small also. Don't expect the DW-100 stand alone burner to fit in your other pocket. But if you simply use an inexpensive Power Inverter in your car, you can take videos in remote locations, and send DVD's home with all your friends/family after events like concerts, plays, weddings, family reunions...etc. Logically, instead of considering a video recorder that makes on-board DVD's (actually mini-DVD's), the DW-100 stand alone burner is a MUCH more functional, convenient, and elegant solution. The on-board models suck MUCH more battery life, are prone to failure due to many more moving parts, and by necessity must be much larger/bulkier.

The grainy-ness and camera shake looked bad on the screen as I shot video. But looked great after on DVD. I have not seen the types of poor video complaints of some other reviewers. I wonder if some reviewers are seeing compression artifacts of repeated recompression of editing? Don't know what they are using. I use iMovie 08, so far, so good.

I recommend using two hands to help stabilize...I mean the left hand/fingers grasping the viewscreen, especially at max zoom. The intelligent anti-shake can only do so much. The camera is so tiny that it WILL move with every movement of your shaky hand. It does not have the bulk and mass of a big VHS camcorder to stabilize it. Remember the tiny size and weight are a feature, and if that feature appeals to you, you must be mindful to hold it steady when shooting. I think a uni-pod (like a hiking staff, smaller/lighter than a tripod) is ideal.

*Tiny size, fits in my palm, and in my front pants pocket. Amazing.
*Fast-on, and EASY BUTTON are convenient.
*Battery life is excellent.
*The DW-100 stand alone burner is not cheap, but it is a really nice and convenient guilty pleasure (although bigger than wanted/necessary). Think of it like this: It's like buying a miniDV video camera with the DVD-writer portion separate, which gives you greater camera battery life, lets you use cheap standard widely-available DVD-R (compared to expensive and fewer-minutes on miniDV), fewer moving parts in the camera to break, tremendous reliability against disc-write errors due to jarring or drops.
*Make SURE if you use the DW-100 stand alone burner for recording, that your DVD-R's are VERBATIM brand for greatest reliability.
*I expect long-life and reliability because there are so few moving parts (no hard-drive HDD, no miniDV burner, just a zoom lens).
*The stabilization feature worked well (just don't expect miracles).
*The lowest-light shots were a touch grainy but not nearly as bad as expected after reading some bad reviews (again I used the highest quality setting, and Easy Button). The focus was sometimes in/out when in low light and extreme zoom. If you need NO GRAIN, and PERFECT FOCUS, get a big light, or spend a LOT more on a different camera.
*Mac compatible for simple/easy editing in iMovie 08 or newer.
*Uses standard removable media SDHC (why would you buy one that didn't? OR that had only built-in and none removable?).
*I don't know about still-photos. Didn't buy it for that. But I imagine it would work in a pinch...hey, most folks use the camera on their cell phone for crying-out-loud.
*Dual memory: Onboard memory plus SDHC. Redundancy to guard against data loss, unlimited capacity using removable SDHC, and quick/easy download to computer using card-readers(at least on a Mac via iMovie 08 or later).
*Excellent zoom.
*Do make SURE any SDHC card you buy has a speed class 2 or higher. If you can not confirm that specification, keep looking. The manual also recommends to stick with Sandisk, Panasonic, or Toshiba brand cards.
*Make SURE any card reader you intend to use to read SDHC cards directly to your computer (as as a fast and convenient option/alternative to the usb connection) are specifically able to read the HighCapicity version (SDHC vs SD). Good SDHC card readers are available for [...] dollars.

I've already gone on very long. I will post a comment that has LOTS of additional information gleaned from snippets that hundreds of other reviewers have posted. I hope you find it helpful.Get more detail about Canon FS10 Flash Memory Camcorder with 8GB Internal Flash Memory and 48x Advanced Zoom.

Low Price Kodak Zx1 HD Pocket Video Camera (Red)

I deliberated over the ZX1 and the flip Ultra, and after reading many reviews and watching several videos from each, on You Tube, decided on the Kodak. My being into amature photography, with many vintage film cams as well as a digital DSLR,am not a big fan of video's anyway. That being said there are occasions video's are handy, so not wanting to spend a lot on one, I begine my research.
Pocket camcorders? Never heard of them before about a month ago. I soon discovered two of the major players in this field seemed to consistently be The Flip Mino and the Kodak. Well without getting to drawn out I decided on the Kodak beacuse ..... SD card memory up to 32gig, and double AA batterys, belive me I know how it is to be someplace like Malin Oregon and have your Lippo batt go dead.
So I went shopping and it was a little hard for me to find the ZX1, the first four stores I went to only had the Flips and the Kodak Zi6. Didnt like the Zi6 as it seemed flimsy compared to the flip. So almost bought a flip, and I am not a great fan of Kodak anyway. But finally found the ZX1, and still liked the build and feel of the flip a little better, but it was I felt really to bulky for a shirt pocket and the ZX1 is not much bigger than my Motorola cell phone, true portability. I also felt the side by side videos on you tube showed a little better color rendering form the Kodak.
The test. Got it home charged the batterys on my Everready NiCd charger and read the instructions, You might as well say what instructions, Kodak really let this fine little camera down in this department. Anyway I decided to test in the worst case scenario for these little cameras, and that is indoor low light levels. What a surprise, not bad at all! No it does not match a fast F stop lens camera for low light shooting, but far exceeded what I expected after reading all the moaning and groaning about it. Face it none of these tiny camcorders are going to be pro-quality at about $150 nor are the going to have image stabilization (hold still like we used to do)they are a great deal with acceptable video. I am very pleased with the ZX1.
Most of all for video's like houshold inventory, or e-mail video clips it is superb, and rugged poratbility, give it an A+. I am always a firm beliver a small basic camera yhat you have with you when a photo moment presents itself, is better than the finest of large bulky video or photo equipment sitting at home in the closet. Kodak deserves an A+ great job on this camera just fix the instructions. Get more detail about Kodak Zx1 HD Pocket Video Camera (Red).

Buying Canon FS11 Flash Memory Camcorder with 16GB Internal Flash Memory and 48x Advanced Zoom

I have read the reviews and the warnings about sound. Some people say the sound is great, others say it's horrid. Well, I've actually returned this camera. Wish I had listened to the warnings.

Pros - It was easy to setup and use. I really liked the features and that it had a mic jack. Nice and compact.

Cons - I do have a couple of complaints. The sound quality isn't that great. You can hear ambient noise in the background all the time like a slight humming noise. Very distracting. It's like it hears too much! (if that makes sense) It picks up EVERY little sound. I taped something at our church and plugged our mixer into the camera so it could hear Pastor through his mic. That was a nightmare! I would've been better of without the mic. I uploaded it to my computer and all I could hear was a HUGE, LOUD buzzing. I couldn't hear a thing he said. The other thing that is really bad is the still picture feature. I have an LG Rhythm cell phone and it takes better pictures than this camcorder does. The video picture is fine, but for stills - I was really shocked at how poor the quality was. I expected a much better product from Canon.

I suppose if all you're doing is taping the children playing loudly, this camera would be okay. If you're taping recitals, your own mini movie, or if you bought it because it had a still picture option, I'd pass.Get more detail about Canon FS11 Flash Memory Camcorder with 16GB Internal Flash Memory and 48x Advanced Zoom.

Great camcorder. Lightweight, easy to use, great video. Took it on a 16 day cruise/tour one week after purchasing, and it met every need. Battery life exceeded 2 hours per charge, plenty to support a full day of touring. The entire trip still didn't fill the 32GB internal memory (we recorded just over 5+ hours of the 7 hours available, all in best quality. Purchased and used a 16GB SDHC card for the still pix, and it worked beautifully also. Downsides? Extreme small size and light weight make controlling camera shake difficult, particularly when zooming; lack of viewfinder is a real detractor.Get more detail about Canon FS22 Dual Flash Memory Camcorder with 32 GB Internal Memory and 48x Advanced Zoom.

I purchase the flip for my mother as a Christmas gift. It worked great for about 6 months. Very handy and easy for her to use. Great picture and great software for PC and MAC. Loved it! Great value, so we thought. Then it wouldn't work all of sudden. Never dropped or mishandled. I worked with tech support and couldn't revive it. Only came on with the little flip beep and then turned back off. I sent it to the company to be repaired. Got it back about 40 days later. It worked and they fixed it for free even though it was beyond the warranty! We were so happy. Then on the next outing. Dead. Wouldn't work again. Since the warranty is only 90 days, there is nothing to do, except complain here and get another brand. Sony HDR-CX100/B AVCHD HD Camcorder in Black + 8 Gigabyte Pro-Duo Memory Stick + Sony Camcorder Case + Camcorder Accessory Kit Buy Now

>> Sunday, November 8, 2009

I decided to buy this kit rather than just the camera since there was quite a bit of additional stuff included...but the quality of the additional pieces included was disappointing.

Most of the additional pieces are from Zeikos including a small tripod, a battery, battery charger, and two lenses. The camera bag is from Sony and the memory stick is from Sandisk. There is also a sheet of screen protectors (that you have to cut to your size) and a 2GB USB drive (for unknown reasons, it serves no purpose for this camera).

The quality of the lenses is not great and they are 37mm (the camera is 30mm) so there is an adapter ring which means that you can see the edge of the lens unless you zoom in a little bit. I haven't spent much time with them, but first glance shows they are cheaply made and will probably show that way with the video they produce.

The extra Zeikos battery that is included is terrible. It's the size equivalent of the 70 size battery that Sony sells which is said to get up to 6 hours of use. The Sony sells for around $100, the Zeikos sells for about $20. The battery I received isn't worth $.10 and is a complete dud. After charging and leaving on my desk overnight, I put it in my pocket to take to a birthday party just in case. I ended up needing it and when I put it on the camera it was dead. I charged it again, put it on the camera after the charge was complete it said I had 111 minutes of recording time. Nowhere near the 6 hours of equivalent sized batteries. But the worst part was that I turned off the camera for five minutes, turned it back on and the battery reported 55 minutes left...it was half the previous amount from five minutes earlier. That "battery" has now been recycled.

I would recommend just buying the camera by itself and then buying quality components that you will actually use. I ended up overpaying for the camera and now have spent an additional $200 to buy a new battery, a real charger and a 16GB SONY memory card. I'll eventually buy a nicer wide angle lens in time, but might not have had to wait as long if I had saved the extra expense on the items that I received that I will NEVER use again.Get more detail about Sony HDR-CX100/B AVCHD HD Camcorder in Black + 8 Gigabyte Pro-Duo Memory Stick + Sony Camcorder Case + Camcorder Accessory Kit.

VholdR Wearable Camcorder (Black) Decide Now

This wearable camcorder delivered great video. It's easy to use and very simple. There's only one switch (stop/record) and one button (on/off/laser). The camcorder features two lasers which point at whatever it's recording - other than that, this is just a lens with a microchip and a flash memory card. I intended to record some sweet stunts while wearing this camcorder, however as soon as it makes impact, it stopped recording! The camcorder did not break, and is very hard to scratch (pavement does the trick!), however I lost all my sweet footage as soon as I hit the deck. The camcorder still works - it turns back on and works good as new after an impact. I even tried just dropping the camera from approx 3 ft and it still shuts off. So unfortunately, I can't post a video of this camera getting banged up, because as soon as the camcorder shuts off, I lose the video which was in the process of recording. All previously saved video clips are still there, though.

As a second demonstration, I tried dipping the camcorder in a bucket of water while recording. Again, the camcorder shut off when submerged. I could, again, turn the camcorder back on after pulling out of the water, but it refused to work under water.

This camcorder can survive impact and survive the elements, however cannot record in high-impact / wet environments. Perhaps I have a defect? Considering I got this as a Vine product, I have no interest in calling up the company to inquire about these issues. However, I would definitely be upset if I paid $200+ for this camcorder.
